Lightweight Separation Under Pavers

Paver patios and walkways are an aesthetically pleasing, cost-effective and popular choice for many homeowners. They have a long track record of unsurpassed beauty and dependability. However, uneven surfaces, pooling of rainwater and growth of weeds can quickly make these surfaces unsightly and dangerous.

The ICPI (The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) recommends installing a geotextile fabric under pavers in all clay soil applications. Without a geotextile, soil can migrate from the sub-base material and cause the paver system to fail. These permeable filter fabrics allow water to pass, while serving as a buffer between the sub-base and the sand/paver surface, adding a measure of stability to your paver project. In addition, when used with a pre-emergent weed killer, they help to retard weed growth.

US Fabrics recommends US 100NW for lightweight separation applications, including paver patios and walkways. Please consult your specification for project specific geotextile requirements. Please click on the link below for more information.
