1. For inlet filters, use Class 2 for woven monofilament geotextiles or Class 1 for all other types of geotextiles.
2. For inlet filter, Type 2, in addition to the AASHTO M 288 requirements, ensure that the geotextile’s burst strength is at least
650 pounds per square inch when tested according to ASTM D 3786. Please note burst strength is no longer tested or recognized by ASTM or AASHTO for geosynthetics.
