Rhode Island Department of Transportation

Geotextiles & DOT Specifications

JAN 2020

Rhode Island DOT mentions AASHTO M288 in the Approved Materials List, but it is not clear which version, if any, they are following.

The Approved Materials List includes products that do not meet the current AASHTO standards. The list also includes products that have not made for decades.

The Rhode Island DOT Standard Specifications do not list any specific geotextile properties. US Fabrics has geotextile products meeting all current AASHTO M 288 guidelines.

The APL states: "Products that fall within a product category being tested by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ (AASHTO) National Product Evaluation Program(NTPEP) will not be tested by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT). RIDOT approval for the same will be based on evaluation of the test results obtained through the NTPEP."

US FABRICS IS NTPEP/AASHTO COMPLIANT. If you need a geotextile that is approved for use on a Rhode Island DOT project, please contact US Fabrics for options at 800-518-2290.
